The History:

I got the idea for this before my daughter, Erica had her second surgery in Feb 2000. She had been asking me to make her a quilt.  I was hurrying to get it finished before her surgery.  Then one day I just decided to make one square the image of two people dancing.  The image was done by machine, with lots of free motion stitches.  Anyway, this funky idea popped in my head to embroider the words above the dancers, "Too many threads, no room for a brain tumor".

The idea of that quilt was to promote good health and positive thinking.  Originally the quilt I am working on now was going to use those same words, circling the head in the middle. Then I realized it probably wouldn't make sense to anyone  but myself.  Usually when I make quilts, ideas just pop into my head, from where I don't know.

     The Design:

The center panel is painted canvas with my thoughts and feelings written in paint pen.  The head is pieced by machine, the eye is beaded.  The first border is machine pieced.  Most of the fabric is hand dyed or painted.  The next border is painted with the names stamped on.  The other border is more dyed/painted fabric, machine pieced.  Originally, I planned to have two rows of names on all 4 sides, however, since so many people seem interested, I have decided I can extend the bottom infinitely.
